Adopt-a-Student

In 1997 an alumnus expressed his gratitude to Loyola for preparing him to meet the challenges of life; in return, he was interested in helping out a family of a deserving student unable to afford tuition. He then suggested that other alumni or friends might also be able to help out by “adopting” a student. Thus, the program was born.

Loyola High School has the proud tradition of never turning away a qualified student because of financial need. With the cost of education constantly on the rise, the school sees bursary applications increase every year.

To help meet all of these requests, Loyola is actively seeking benefactors who are willing to adopt students for the duration of their time at Loyola. The number of generous individuals that have contributed to the program has grown steadily since the inception of the initiative.

  • The cost of fully endowing an adoption is $120,000.
  • A $60,000 donation will endow a half-adoption.
  • The cost of an annual full adoption is $6,000 or $3,000 for a half adoption.

This year, the school has forty-five “adopted” students. Of these adoptions, eighteen are fully or partially endowed, while twenty-seven are annual adoptions, dependant on donations to the school’s annual giving program.
