33rd Ed Meagher Sports Tournament January 22-25, 2003

Sports Tournament 2011
Honorary Chairperson

Robert Scanlan

The Loyola - Ed Meagher Sports Tournament Com- mittee is proud to announce the Honorary Chairman for this year's 41st tournament – Mr. Robert Scanlan.

This year marks Bob's thirty-fourth year at Loyola. Along with his four years in the high school (1959- 63) and four years at Loyola College (1963-67), Bob has spent a remarkable forty-two years on the Loyola campus.

He began his career teaching grade-seven and grade- eight Math along with Phys. Ed., and then moved into senior Math in the mid-1980s. Bob began coaching Bantam Hockey and Football in his first year at Loyola. Remarkably, he has coached the Bantam Football team for all thirty-four years that he has been at Loyola, winning numerous city championships. He has also been active in the House-League sports program, and is the main reason that the senior-school students continue to have the opportunity to play Senior House-League basketball.

The true spirit and camaraderie that define Bob can be witnessed in his participation in the annual Student-Teacher games. While one can still witness his competitive side during these events, what is even more noticeable at the end of every game is the smile on his face and the twinkle in his eyes – thrilled to continue to be a part of this wonderful Loyola tradition.

Bob is a diehard fan of all athletics at Loyola. His support of, and dedication to, our student- athletes, have been second to none. He has been equally dedicated to the Ed Meagher Sports Tournament as an active committee member for fifteen years. Quite simply, his generosity can be seen and felt whenever and wherever help is needed.

It is, indeed, an honour and a pleasure to recognize Bob Scanlan's outstanding service to Loyola and its students. His selection as Honorary Chairman of the 2011 Loyola-Ed Meagher Sports Tournament is a fitting tribute to a man who has served Loyola for a remarkable thirty-four years. Congratulations and thank you Bob!
